Banned Book Week

September 23-30 is Banned Book Week, cosponsored and promoted by the American Library Association (ALA). Banned book week has been observed annually since 1982. The idea is to encourage people to read the books deemed unacceptable due to reasons such as "anti-family," "racism," and "promoting religious viewpoint," as well as to educate folks on the assault on intellectual freedom.
The ALA website includes many interesting links on this topic including the Most Challenged Books of the 21st Century.
For example: "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck and "Fallen Angels" by Walter Dean Myers
So my advice to you is to get out there and start reading a banned book now... I am going to finish the Harry Potter series (I know, don't say it)

FYI, if you want to get around flickr's licensing agreements, you can link directly from my image on my site. I made it, after all, and as long as you provide attribution (which you did in this post), you can use it any way you'd like. No sense having a middle-man.
