Countdown

Less than one month left, in fact twenty eight days to take-off!

Well, now that I have a bit more time on my hands, I have upped my training schedule. I am hiking (translated to: these boots are made for walking) through the ravine trails every morning. I get up between 7 and 7:45 every day, last week I walked for an hour every morning, this week it is an hour and a half, next week I'll be aiming for two hours. It is really hard to drag my lazy butt out of bed that early, but once I am out on the trails, the sky is blue, the birds are chirping and the air is fresh, I am glad to be there. It is also a great way to kickstart your day. I find that I am more productive at work, although I still seem to get really tired around 2ish, just in time for a quick twenty minute nap.

Anyway, I digress, back to my training. I have also been trying to work out in the evening. Either at the gym or I go for a long bike ride or another walk. I have not been quite as successful at this. I have probably only gone half the time over the past two weeks. This past weekend, we went to Elk Island National Park to go hiking. We chose the "Simmons Trail" which is about 12km, but turned back after about 1-2 kms, there was bear scat about every 10 metres or so. There were only three of us and we decided to go to a more popular and heavily used trail. It was about 6km. In all we did about 9 km on Saturday. I left my camera at home, but will upload some pictures from the hike tomorrow. As I mentioned in a previous post, Elk Island park should really be called Bison Park and you will see why once I get those pictures up. My next post will be much more descriptive of the day at the park.

Well, since I am still awake and working hard, its back to work for me.

~ciao~

It was actually something that my Mother had been planning for a few years. It is her trip really, she retired in April and is considering this her 'rites of passage'. My two sisters and my mom and me are going along with two other friends.

I am going because I have not had the opportunity to do much traveling (unlike my mom and sisters who have travelled extensively) and I think this is a good way to start!

I am beginning to see the value of a good nap. I've been turned to the nap side! lol.

I'm so impressed with your plans. It's all so exciting!!!
