Guess where I was last night?

Okay, yes I know I am slightly nerdified and somewhat geeky. But what can I say? I had family members who had an appreciation for all that is Star Trek and science fiction when I was growing up.

Last night was theme night at my favourite local pub and this time it was Star Trek. Once a month they play movies or TV episodes on the theme. The first time I went to this pub it was Fawlty Towers night, and my friend and I won the trivia contest too ! Anyway, I am a regular there now, they have great food and a nice homey atmosphere and it is only two blocks from home.

I have been thinking a lot about my 14 months at my first 'real' library job. I have had the opportunity to expand my skills and knowledge in areas that I have an interest. My responsibilities have been varied, including web maintenance, staff training, database management and more.

But... I feel that there is something missing. I won't and can't go into detail but I look at my welcome my first day of work. Nothing like making a new employee feel right at home. It did get better and I have great colleagues.

I will post new pic's of my space in the near future. I have ordered a new desk as mine is going to a system's tech.

Moving, moving, moving along. It seems that is all I ever do. One of these days I will settle on some place, preferably warmer and with more opportunity for some fun. I hired movers, they arrive in about 9 hours and I am almost ready for them. My back hurts yet I have hardly lifted anything. Well, strictly speaking that is not true, as I had to stack all those boxes.

I have 2 days off work and many a mile to go, so I will bid one and all good night.

I am moving on Monday from North Nanaimo to downtown. I have been very isolated the last year. When I moved here I did not realize how poor the public transit was here and how difficult it was going to be to get out at night and on the weekends. However, from downtown I will be able to walk to so many different places, whooohoooo! And the place I am moving to is very nice, has a gas fireplace, ensuite bathroom, in-suite laundry and a balcony accessible from both the living room and master bedroom. Oh it will be so nice to get up and go for a stroll on a Saturday morning in the "Old Quarter" and chill out in a coffee house
